FOUNDER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND MANAGING DIRECTOR 2009-2015

The reason and motivation for the conception of an international festival in Hamburg harbour was to create the sound of the city and to open jazz to a new audience. Within a few years the ELBJAZZ Festival, of which I am the initiator and co-founder, has developed into one of the largest jazz festivals in Europe.

Over two days, more than 20,000 visitors will experience the wide range of diversity that the current jazz scene has to offer. Local and national co-productions with partners such as the Copenhagen Jazzfestival, the Prins Claus Conservatory Groningen, the Thalia Theater Hamburg or, since 2010, the Elbphilharmonie have been an important part of my curatorial work in a network with like-minded people. In addition to artistic management, my tasks included the acquisition of external funds and sponsoring and the production and management of Elbjazz GmbH.
